How You Can Help

Section Team Members
Most Needed

Lead weekly meetings and help young people develop through the Scout programme. Perfect for people who enjoy working with young people and want to make a lasting impact.

Commitment: 2-3 hours per week

Training provided: Full leadership course

DBS check required: Yes (free)

Age requirements: 18+ (14+ as Young Leaders)

Trustees & Committee
Governance

Help govern and manage the group's finances, policies, and strategic direction. Great for people with business, legal, or management experience.

Commitment: Monthly meetings + occasional events

Skills needed: Business, finance, legal, or HR experience

DBS check required: Yes (free)

Training provided: Trustee induction

Occasional Helpers
Flexible

Help with special events, camps, fundraising activities, or transport. Perfect for people who want to help but can't commit to regular meetings.

Commitment: As much or as little as you can spare

Activities: Events, camps, fundraising, admin

DBS check required: Depends on role

Training provided: Role-specific

Specialists & Tradespeople
Skills Based

Share your professional skills to help maintain our HQ, lead specialist activities, or support our building projects. We always need handy people and tradespeople!

Skills we need: Building, plumbing, electrical, decorating

Also useful: IT, marketing, photography, catering

Commitment: Project-based or ongoing

DBS check required: May not be required
